About the Project

Overview
Modern Railway Systems (MRS) is selected to perform Transit Systems professional services for UTA, providing design, construction, maintenance, and repair work. The work is performed on an on-call basis and supports the ongoing performance and reliability of UTA’s transit system.

Scope of Work
Under this contract, MRS performs systems work related to Train Control, Communications and fiber installation and minor splicing, Overhead Catenary Systems, and Traction Power Systems. Key tasks include:

Replacing six mid-point anchor assemblies
Installing 32 auto-tensioning devices
Upgrading welded crossbond connections to Cembre bolted connections at 12 locations
Reconfiguring the OCS across a double crossover
Replacing 3,000 ft of contact wire through S-curves
Replacing 276 insulated messenger wire saddles and contact wire clamps
Rewiring an interlocking house and replacing all associated field equipment
Upgrading a non-powered double crossover into a fully powered bi-directional signalized control point

These efforts improve the reliability, safety, and operational flexibility of UTA’s transit system. MRS’ on-call systems expertise enables timely upgrades and responsive maintenance, supporting continuous service and long-term system resilience across the network.
