Connecting Miami to Orlando with a higher speed rail line.
Overview
The Zone 3 East-West project is part of a new high-speed rail system along Florida’s Highway 528 corridor, spanning 36 miles from Cocoa to Orlando International Airport. This segment is one of four that make up the 235-mile high-speed intercity passenger rail connecting Miami to Orlando. As the first privately owned, operated, and maintained passenger railway system in the United States, the project marks a major milestone in modern rail development.
Scope of Work
Modern Railway Systems (MRS) was subcontracted to procure, install, and functionally test the Automatic Train Control (ATC) wayside equipment and associated communication network. The scope included installing and testing 27 signal houses, 19 generators, 28 signals, 10 power switch machines, two maintenance crossings, 13 solar stations, two radio towers, and more than 35 miles of fiber optic cable.
Impact
The completed system supports train speeds of up to 125 miles per hour, advancing safe, efficient, and sustainable high-speed rail travel in the United States.
