Connecting Miami to Orlando with a higher speed rail line.
The Zone 3 East-West project is a new high-speed rail system in the Florida Highway 528 corridor, stretching 36 miles from Cocoa to Orlando Airport. This segment is 1 of 4 comprising the overall 235-mile high-speed intercity passenger rail that connects Miami to Orlando.
As the first passenger railway system in the U.S. to be owned, operated, and maintained by a private company, this project represents a significant milestone. MRS was subcontracted to procure, install, and functionally test the Automatic Train Control (ATC) wayside equipment and the associated communication network. Our scope of work included installing and testing 27 signal houses, 19 generators, 28 signals, 10 power switch machines, two maintenance crossings, 13 solar stations, 2 radio towers, and over 35 miles of fiber optic cable. The system is designed to accommodate train speeds of up to 125 miles per hour.
