East Contra Costa BART Extension
Integrating seamless systems.
Integrating seamless systems.
Overview
This project involved the construction and implementation of trackwork, systems, station finishes and testing for a 9.1-mile double-track extension of BART’s rail system.
Scope of Work
As a joint venture partner, Modern Railway Systems (MRS) was responsible for comprehensive systems work, including the design and installation of train controls, 12 signal control houses, 240,000 feet of control cable, 160,000 feet of fiber optic cable, 29 track switch assemblies, and 57 train signals. MRS also provided the headend train control software (TDX) and hardware necessary for operations, ensuring seamless integration and enhanced functionality across the extended rail network.
Impact
By integrating advanced train control systems and infrastructure, the project supports increased service capacity, smoother operations, and improved passenger experience along the extended corridor.
