Connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley by expanding Metro’s Light Rail System.
Overview
This $1.5 billion Progressive Design-Build project delivers 6.7 miles of new light rail alignment and a new maintenance facility in Southern California’s East San Fernando Valley. The project expands Metro’s footprint and provides much-needed public transit service to a congested region.
Scope of Work
The Stacy Witbeck and Modern Railway Systems (MRS) teams are executing the project using their extensive expertise in complex, urban rail projects. The work includes a center-running alignment, 10 stations, and comprehensive utilities relocation and installation. The scope also encompasses a new Overhead Catenary System (OCS), advanced traction power systems, state-of-the-art signaling, and robust communications systems, all integrated within a challenging urban environment.
Impact
This project will improve transit accessibility, increase service capacity, and enhance mobility across the East San Fernando Valley. By providing reliable and efficient light rail service, the project supports reduced traffic congestion, strengthens regional connectivity, and improves the overall quality of life for the surrounding communities.
