Vineyard Commuter Rail Station

Overview 
This project involved constructing a new passenger station and extending the existing siding 1.5 miles along the FrontRunner alignment to serve the growing community of Vineyard. 

Scope of Work 
During preconstruction, Rocky Mountain System Services (RMSS), a joint venture of Modern Railway Systems (MRS) and MJG, coordinated with all project stakeholders to ensure the systems work was well planned and fully compatible with civil and track requirements. RMSS collaborated with major suppliers to identify and procure long-lead systems materials, helping prevent construction delays caused by supply chain constraints. 

During construction, RMSS worked closely with subcontractors to advance the systems design to its final configuration, leveraging extensive expertise with the FrontRunner Positive Train Control system. Train control modifications included adding a new interlocking and performing significant equipment and software updates at multiple adjacent locations. RMSS planned and executed the systems work in multiple phases, providing technical guidance and oversight throughout the process. This effort included simulation testing of all affected train control locations to identify and resolve software issues prior to final cutover. 

Impact 
The project expanded FrontRunner service capacity and improved operational flexibility while supporting safe and reliable rail operations. RMSS’ phased approach, technical leadership, and rigorous testing ensured a smooth integration of new infrastructure that met the needs of the growing Vineyard community.
