Morehead Pedestrian Crossing

Overview 
This project supports critical pedestrian and crossing improvements by upgrading existing infrastructure and integrating new safety features.

Scope of Work 
Modern Railway Systems (MRS) removed existing concrete sections and brick pavers and replacing them with new concrete to create a seamless tie in to the new pedestrian bridge. MRS also installed a new grade crossing case equipped with axle counters to improve train detection and system reliability.

Additional upgrades included the installation of pedestrian warning signage and safety rail designed to support pedestrian calming measures. These elements were carefully integrated to improve awareness and guide pedestrian movement through the crossing area.

Impact
These improvements enhance overall safety and accessibility by providing clearer pedestrian pathways and reliable crossing protection. The addition of modern detection technology and visual warning systems increases situational awareness for both pedestrians and rail operations.
