This project covered a 35-mile segment of Amtrak’s west rail line, extending from Kalamazoo to Porter.
Work
Modern Railway Systems (MRS) installed new wayside signal system equipment, upgrading nine intermediate signals and one electric lock location. The work included deploying new signal and fiber network cabling, enhancing existing fiber optic infrastructure, and installing new signal houses and signals. MRS also performed comprehensive fiber optic testing and worked closely with the prime contractor and owner to complete successful cutover testing and full system integration.
Impact
This work enhanced operational efficiency, safety, and reliability for both passenger and freight services.
