Overview
This 132-mile rail line connects Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo, serving as a vital passenger corridor in Michigan’s rail network.
Scope of Work
Modern Railway Systems (MRS) fully installed, tested, and commissioned the wayside signal and grade crossing warning systems for the Michigan Amtrak East ITCS Project. The work included 70 intermediate signals, 31 electric locks, and 200 grade crossing warning systems. MRS also implemented new controls and signals across 28 industrial sidings with circuits to protect derails and 17 complex interlockings. The communications scope included installing and integrating a dedicated fiber optic system and 31 radio transmission towers to enable continuous train-to-wayside communication.
