Overview
This project focused on upgrading the existing train control system across UTA’s rail network. Modern Railway Systems (MRS) was responsible for designing, furnishing, installing, and commissioning the overlay Enhanced Automatic Train Control (E-ATC) system.
Scope of Work
The project involved modifying existing wayside and carborne equipment to implement the E-ATC system in compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements for Positive Train Control (PTC). Key enhancements included addressing Temporary Speed Restrictions, Work Zone Limits, and Mandatory Directives to ensure safe and reliable operations across the UTA network.
Impact
The upgraded E-ATC system enhanced safety, improved operational reliability, and ensured regulatory compliance. These improvements allowed UTA to operate a more efficient and secure rail system while supporting ongoing network growth and service improvements.
