Bringing safe, reliable commuter rail service to Utah.
Bringing safe, reliable commuter rail service to Utah.
Overview
This $526 million CM/GC project involved constructing 45 miles of commuter rail adjacent to an active UPRR corridor. The extensive work included new track grades, grade crossings, 30 bridges, 20 fill walls, seven major box culverts, utility relocations, four park-and-ride facilities, seven platforms, a pedestrian undercrossing, and UPRR relocations.
Scope of Work
Modern Railway Systems (MRS) installed and integrated a wayside and 79-mph cab signal system, including 19 interlockings, 35 grade crossings, and 30 cut sections. Additionally, 17 locomotives and cab cars were equipped with cab signaling equipment, bringing the total number of equipped units to 40.
Impact
The project enabled safe and efficient operations along the commuter rail corridor, improving connectivity for riders and enhancing overall system reliability. The upgraded signaling and train control systems strengthened safety and operational performance across the network.
