Our Work in Practice
The Downtown Redmond Link Extension is officially open! It was a pleasure to celebrate alongside Sound Transit, the team, and the Redmond community.
This design-build project extends the Eastlink alignment by 3.4 miles of double-track light rail guideway, connecting the Redmond Technology Station near the Microsoft campus to Downtown Redmond.
MRS was proud to contribute to this project by providing engineering and commissioning services for the communications subsystems at two stations and a parking garage. Our team also delivered communications subsystems for the traction power substations (provided by MEC), signal bungalows (provided by MRS), emergency access points (EAPs), and trackway intrusion detection (TID) systems along the alignment. A notable highlight was that all communications racks and cabinets were built and wired by MRS in Denver prior to on-site installation.
In addition, MRS provided full train control system design, furnished the wayside equipment, and led the integrated testing of the train control subsystem to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to making this project a reality. Seeing the positive impact it will have on the community is one of the most rewarding parts of the work we do, and it is exciting seeing the new line officially in service!
