The Future Leaders

Modern Railway Systems (MRS), alongside our partners at Stacy Witbeck, welcomed this year’s intern cohort to Stacy Witbeck’s Salt Lake City office for our annual internship day. Forty-two interns came together to share presentations highlighting their work over the summer and learn about the future of civil infrastructure and their role in it.  

With interns from engineering, construction management, marketing, and other areas of the company, they brought together a wide range of perspectives and expertise. In addition to presenting on the projects, they also learned about the projects we’ve delivered and the work ahead.  

The day also featured a team-building challenge centered around a model bridge construction competition. Working in teams, interns designed and built replica bridges using popsicle sticks and craft materials before testing their strength and stability with model trains. The activity encouraged collaboration, creative problem solving, and teamwork while giving interns the opportunity to build meaningful connections with peers from across the organization. 

Additionally, interns gained insights about the changes occurring in the construction industry and how they will play a part in guiding those changes. They learned about industry changes in the design and build process, how projects are pursued and awarded, and the evolving demands of the industry.   

We are proud to see the hard work that these interns have put in this summer and the energy, curiosity, and dedication they bring to our teams. Seeing their growth and the impact of their contributions reinforces our confidence in the future of the industry. It is exciting to see these students flourish and grow, and we look forward to seeing the lasting impact they will make in this industry and beyond.
