Building A Workplace For Everyone
Construction Inclusion Week provides an opportunity to recognize the people who make our industry stronger and the importance of creating a workplace where everyone can contribute.
This year’s theme, Opening Doors: Building a Workplace for Everyone, focused on creating opportunities, welcoming different perspectives, and giving people the space to learn and grow.
Expanding Opportunity
Whether someone is entering the industry for the first time or taking the next step in their career, access to meaningful experiences can help shape where that path leads.
Our recruiting tours are one way we’re helping open those doors. By visiting colleges and sharing more about careers in rail and transit, we’re able to connect with students and introduce the next generation to the many paths available within our industry.
These conversations give students a closer look at the work we do while helping build connections.
Empowering Growth
Growth comes through experience, new challenges, and learning from the people around us. Our internship program gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working alongside our teams and contributing to real projects.
For MRS intern Mitchell Provst, working on two different projects has given him the chance to learn firsthand from the people around him.
“Everyone has been super friendly and always willing to take the time to explain things and help me learn. I would consider many of them not only coworkers, but friends as well.”
Creating space for people to learn through experience is one way we continue empowering growth and investing in the next generation of our industry.
Cultivating Belonging
Building strong teams also means creating an environment where people know their contributions matter.
Our projects bring people together with different roles, experiences, and perspectives. The way we communicate, collaborate, and show up for one another plays an important part in bringing those perspectives together.
Cultivating belonging is built through those everyday interactions and the relationships that allow us to work together as one team.
Continuing the Conversation
Construction Inclusion Week may be one week, but the conversations behind it continue throughout the year.
Opening doors, expanding opportunity, empowering growth, and cultivating belonging all play a part in building stronger teams and a stronger industry. Thank you to our employees for the experiences and perspectives they bring to our team every day.
